Temperatures to soar above average in Kansas City Christmas week, with no snow

Those looking for a warm, rather than white, Christmas will be get their wish as the Kansas City metro area will see temperatures well above normal this week.

“Conditions outside over the next couple of days are going to be much above average,” said FOX4 meteorologist Garry Frank, who provides weather updates to The Star. “The only thing that will limit us here in the next 24 to 48 hours is morning fog. Other than that, it should be relatively pleasant heading into Christmas Day.”

The Star produced this weather update in partnership with the local FOX4 television station. The station’s meteorologists create forecast videos multiple times a day for the newspaper to include in its weather reports.

Highs on Sunday are expected to reach the mid-50s. It will be even warmer Monday with highs around 60 degrees likely. The following two days will be a bit cooler, with highs in the upper 50s on Christmas Eve and the lower 50s on Christmas Day, Frank said. There could be some sprinkles, but no snow, on Christmas.

“Temperatures are still going to be well above average heading into the next three days and seven days — maybe even beyond that,” Frank said.

The average high for this time of year in Kansas City is the upper 30s.
