Temperatures will climb into the 60s soon. Here’s when you can shed the winter coat

Temperatures well above average are expected in Kansas City over the weekend and beyond as holiday travel begins.

Although average temperatures for this time of year are in the upper 30s FOX4 meteorologist Garry Frank said Saturday he expects temperatures to be in the 50s and even 60s.

“Your travel plans for Christmas will be in just fine shape,” Frank said in a weather update for The Star.

Low temperatures Saturday and Sunday will still be in the 30s but high temperatures are forecast to be 53 on Saturday, 57 on Sunday and 63 on Monday.

The record high temperature for the Kansas City area on Monday is in the high 60s, Frank said.

The warm temperatures will begin to fade on Christmas Eve, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill. Temperatures will drop slightly but are expected to remain 10 to 15 degrees above normal on Thursday and Friday.
