All 4-ounce and 6-ounce cans of Suave 24-Hour Protection Aerosol Antiperspirant Powder and 6-ounce cans of Suave 24-Hour Protection Aerosol Antiperspirant Fresh are the latest spray products to be recalled the presence of benzene, a carcinogen.
“An internal review showed slightly elevated levels of benzene in some product samples,” Suave manufacturer Unilever United States said Wednesday night in its FDA-posted recall notice. “While benzene is not an ingredient in any of the recalled products, the review showed that unexpected levels of benzene came from the propellant that sprays the product out of the can.”
This is the seventh recall of spray products for benzene since last summer.
The recalled Fresh variety was in 6-ounce cans.
The Powder variety comes in 4-ounce and 6-ounce cans.
Unilever says the Suave 24-Hour Protection Aerosol Antiperspirant product line was discontinued in October “for business reasons.” But, it’s offering refunds, which can be requested online.
To request a refund or ask questions about this recall, call Unilever at 866-204-9756, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Eastern time.
