Independence election results: Vote tallies on mayor, city council & school bond
By Wednesday morning, Independence should know who its next mayor is, who will be making decisions on its city council and whether its school district will be able to make improvements.
But first, the votes need to be tallied.
Polls close at 7 p.m., though you can still vote if you are in line by that time.
In the hours that follow, election boards will begin posting results, first from early voting, then from day-of ballots.
The Star will be sharing results here as those numbers roll in.

Independence mayoral election
Independence’s top office is among the most important races on this spring’s crowded Jackson County ballot.
The two candidates are Bridget McCandless and Kevin King, having beaten out two other challengers in February’s mayoral primary.
Independence city council results
Four candidates, including one incumbent, are competing for two at-large seats on Independence’s seven-person council.
Independence school bond votes
Voters will also decide the future of 24 Independence School District elementary, middle and high school buildings.
Leaders of Independence School District 30 are asking residents to approve a new bond for school renovations, which the district says will not trigger a tax increase.
