It’s Election Day in the Kansas City area. Follow along for live updates
It’s Election Day, and voters in Kansas and Missouri will head to the polls for key local government and school board races, as well as ballot questions.
Local elections are widely considered among the most important because they have a direct, immediate impact on daily life, determining how your tax dollars are spent and shaping community priorities, often more tangibly than national races.
In Kansas, voters in Wyandotte and Johnson counties will choose city, school and community college leaders. Wyandotte County voters will also select the Unified Government’s CEO/mayor, commissioners, sheriff and members of the board of directors for the Board of Public Utilities.
In Missouri, Jackson County residents will vote on whether to make the county assessor an elected role, while voters in the Independence School District are deciding on a four-day school week for the next 10 years.
Polls open at 6 a.m. in Missouri and 7 a.m. in Kansas, and close at 7 p.m. in both states.
