Johnson County live election results: U.S. House, Sheriff, District Attorney & more
In the 2024 election, Johnson County voters cast ballots to vote on their representation in various levels of government: from U.S. president and U.S. House to the Kansas Legislature and local elections for Johnson County sheriff, district attorney and county commission.
Below are live results in different races across the state:
U.S. House District 2
Kansas’ 2nd Congressional District winds from the Nebraska border to the Oklahoma border, including part of Kansas City, Topeka, Emporia, Parsons, Pittsburg and Coffeyville.
Former Attorney General Derek Schmidt won the open race, successfully mounting a political comeback.
U.S. representatives serve two-year terms.
U.S. House District 3
Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District includes southern Wyandotte County and all of Johnson, Miami and Franklin counties.
Democratic incumbent Sharice Davids defeated Prasanth Reddy to secure re-election.
U.S. representatives serve two-year terms.
Johnson County Sheriff
Byron K. Roberson defeated Republican Doug Bedford to become Johnson County’s first Democratic sheriff in nearly a century.
The Johnson County sheriff serves a four-year term.
Johnson County District Attorney
Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe fended off a challenge from Democrat Vanessa Riebli.
The Johnson County District Attorney serves a four-year term.
Johnson County Commission District 2
The Johnson County Board of County Commissioners is made up of six district representatives and one at-large chairperson.
Johnson County commissioners are elected on nonpartisan ballots and serve four-year terms.
In District 2, Commissioner Jeff Meyers earned a second term by defeating Mark Hamill.
Johnson County Commission District 3
Johnson County Commissioner Charlotte O’Hara on Tuesday lost her reelection bid to Julie Brewer.
Johnson County Commission District 6
Residents in District 6, which includes most of western Johnson County, chose incumbent Shirley Allenbrand over Mike Storm.
Kansas State House Results
State representatives are lawmakers responsible for drafting and voting on legislation. They also help create the state budget and create legislation that helps regulate state agencies. There are 125 state representatives in the Kansas House, each serving a two year term at a time.
Johnson County residents will vote in the District 8, District 15, District 16, District 17, District 18, District 19, District 20, District 21, District 22, District 23, District 24, District 25, District 26, District 27, District 28, District 29, District 30, District 48, District 49, District 78 and District 108 races.
Kansas State Senate Results
Johnson County residents will have a say in the District 7, District 8, District 9, District 10, District 11, District 21, District 23 and District 37 races. Kansas state senators serve four-year terms.
