Wyandotte County live election results: U.S. House, Kansas Legislature

In the 2024 election, Wyandotte County voters will cast ballots to vote on who will represent them in various levels of government including for U.S. House and the Kansas Legislature.

Below, find live results for different races in Wyandotte County:

U.S. House District 2

Kansas’ 2nd Congressional District winds from the Nebraska border to the Oklahoma border, including part of Kansas City, Topeka, Emporia, Parsons, Pittsburg and Coffeyville.

The 2024 election suddenly became an open race earlier this year when Jake LaTurner decided not to seek re-election. Among the crowded field, former U.S. Rep. Nancy Boyda emerged as the top Democrat, and former Attorney General Derek Schmidt won on the Republican side to put himself on the brink of a political comeback.

U.S. representatives serve two-year terms.

U.S. House District 3

Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District includes southern Wyandotte County and all of Johnson, Miami and Franklin counties.

Democratic incumbent Sharice Davids ran unopposed in her primary. Physician Prasanth Reddy won the Republican primary to face her in November, defeating Karen Crnkovich.

U.S. representatives serve two-year terms.

Kansas City, Kansas, school bond issue

Voters approved the Kansas City, Kansas, public school district’s ask for a $180 million bond that will finance new school buildings in a district where officials say the needs are great and overdue.

The school board said it designed the plan to keep property tax rates flat by cutting rates in other areas to offset the increase to the capital fund.

Edwardsville sales tax

Edwardsville residents voted Tuesday to create an additional sales tax that city officials plan to use for building a new City Hall, and police and fire stations. Unofficial results show two separate ballot measures passing by more than 56%.

District attorney

Democrat Mark Dupree is running unopposed for re-election as Wyandotte County district attorney, which covers the cities of Kansas City, Kansas; Edwardsville; and Bonner Springs.

There are no Republicans challenging him for the position.

Kansas State House Results

State representatives are lawmakers responsible for drafting and voting on legislation. They also help create the state budget and create legislation that helps regulate state agencies. There are 125 state representatives in the Kansas House, each serving a two year term at a time.

After unseating an incumbent representative in a Wyandotte County primary, retired teacher Wanda Brownlee Paige is running uncontested.

Wyandotte County residents voted in the District 31, District 33, District 34, District 35, District 36, District 37 and District 39 races.

Kansas State Senate Results

Wyandotte County residents will have a say in the District 4, 5 and 6 races.

Kansas state senators serve four-year terms.
