‘Breathe.’ Kansas governor Laura Kelly’s staff makes her a (cheeky) Taylor Swift CD

Buying the boss a holiday gift is tricky. But judging from that big smile on Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly’s face Wednesday, her staff’s present left her “enchanted.”

Staff members made the leader of the Sunflower State a personalized Taylor Swift CD. They picked the tracks.

The first song is “Breathe.”

The last is “You’re On Your Own, Kid.”

They also included “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “Should’ve Said No” and “Shake It Off.”

Cheeky bunch there in Topeka.

Anyone who knows Kelly is a Democrat leading a Republican state should feel free to insert a huge LOL right about now.

Oh yeah, “You Need to Calm Down” is on her CD, too.

“Now that @taylorswift13 has been spending more time in Kansas — thanks @tkelce! — my fearless staff thought it was time I drop everything now and give her music a proper listen,” Kelly wrote Wednesday on X, formerly Twitter.

‘Tis true.

Swift has been dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce since the summer. Though she’s spent more time on the Missouri side — at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and various places around Kansas City — Kelce recently bought a home in Leawood in Johnson County.

That’s Kansas. And that’s where JoCo Swifties are on high alert for a Swift sighting these days.

Kelly tweeted that the CD “pairs well with the Reputation friendship bracelet a Swiftie gave me at a recent @Chiefs game. What other songs should I check out?”

Here are a few suggestions people offered the governor:

“’This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things’ would be a good one for a governor. You will probably wish you could scream the chorus at folks a few dozen times a day.”

“Since you’re a mom, I’d jump straight to The Best Day. Bring the tissues.”

“Welcome, you’re going to love it here! Every new Swiftie should listen to the Evermore and Folklore albums from start to finish. And if you’re ever having a rough day in the office, Reputation will help you work through it!”

Someone else suggested, “Is It Over Now?”

But we can’t help but notice one Swift song Kelly’s staff missed, an obvious one for a woman always dressed in business-like layers.

Is she wearing one in the tweet?

“Cardigan.”
