Multiple I-70 ramps to close this summer due to Buc-ee’s construction in KCK

Buc-ee the beaver might disrupt your routes this summer if you’re driving through Kansas City, Kansas.

Cleveland Construction, a national commercial construction contractor, announced that I-70 exit and entrance ramps at North 110th Street will be closed starting May 4.

The closure is part of the construction of the KCK Buc-ee’s gas station, ensuring smooth access to the travel center, while improving rehabilitation on the overpass, widening the ramps and installing new traffic signals.

The I-70 exit and entrance ramps and North 110th Street overpass bridge are expected to open Aug. 2. The project is a collaboration between Cleveland Construction, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas, and Buc-ee’s.

Construction for the KCK Buc-ee’s began Oct. 1, 2025, with the goal to have it ready by fall 2027. This isn’t the first road closure in KCK for the Texas-based store, as Village West Parkway between Speedway Boulevard and just west of Hollywood Casino Boulevard is closed through late September in due to the Buc-ee’s construction.

The first Kansas City-area location of the Texas chain will include a 74,000-square-foot travel center with 120 gas pumps and 12 charging stations for electric vehicles. A beaver mecca opened in Springfield in 2023.
