This road will close soon for Buc-ee’s construction in Kansas City, Kansas
Make way for the beaver — literally.
Soon Kansas City-area drivers will have to change their routes for construction of the new Buc-ee’s gas station in western Wyandotte County.
Starting Monday, Jan. 26, Village West Parkway will close between Speedway Boulevard and just west of Hollywood Casino Boulevard to rebuild the road and accommodate the Buc-ee’s gas station and mega convenience store.
Crews will build a new roundabout and move the current road to the north. The road, which connects South 110th Street and State Avenue, is expected to stay closed until late September.
The first Kansas City-area location of the Texas chain will include a 74,000-square-foot travel center with 120 gas pumps and 12 charging stations for electric vehicles. A beaver mecca opened in Springfield in 2023.
The $95 million project off of I-70 near Kansas Speedway and the Legends is projected to open to travelers by fall 2027.
The Texas chain isn’t the only supersize convenience store coming to the Kansas City area. Last year, the Independence City Council approved plans to build the world’s largest Wally’s near Interstate 70 and Noland Road.
