Police look for car after shots fired outside popular Lawrence bar

Gunfire erupted during a fight outside a popular downtown Lawrence bar early Saturday, Lawrence police said in a post on social media.

No one was struck by gunfire as people ran for safety, police said. Police are looking to speak with occupants of a black Nissan registered in Topeka.

The fight broke out shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday outside the Replay Lounge in the 900 block of Massachusetts Street, police said. Witnesses told police that a bar employee tried to intervene to stop the fight, was hit in the face and treated for minor injuries.

During the fight, one of the men involved pulled out a gun and fired at least two shots, but didn’t hit anyone. The men then fled.

Officers found several shell casings at the scene and interviewed several witnesses. Police posted a photo of the car on social media and asked for anyone with information to contact them. The investigation is ongoing.
