Police find man and woman shot to death, juvenile hurt in Northland KC home
The Kansas City Police Department is investigating the deaths of two people who were found shot to death inside a Northland home Wednesday night.
Officers responded just after 8:30 p.m. to the 1200 block of NE 83rd Terrace, in Kansas City’s Ridgefield neighborhood, on a call for service. As officers arrived, they were directed inside a residence where they found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds.
Officers also found a juvenile hurt inside the home, but police did not know the extent of their injuries, according to Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a police spokesman.
Paramedics responded and pronounced the man and woman dead at the scene. The juvenile was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Police have not yet publicly identified the two people who died.
Investigators initially said the incident appeared to be a homicide, but in a news release Wednesday, DiMartino said the incident is classified as a death investigation and that police were not looking for anyone else involved.
Detectives are working to determine what led up to the man and woman’s deaths. They are looking for witnesses and surveillance footage. Crime scene personnel are looking for physical evidence at the scene.
