Man sentenced to life in prison after fatally shooting estranged wife in KCK
A man who fatally shot his estranged wife in Kansas City, Kansas, in 2022 has been sentenced to life in prison.
A Wyandotte County jury found Miguel Flores guilty of first-degree murder and aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer by use of a deadly weapon on Oct. 8, 2025, according to court documents.
He was sentenced on Jan. 13, 2026, to life in prison without the possibility of parole for at least 25 years, according to a news release from Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Jonathan Carter.
On Nov. 21, 2022, officers with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department responded to the 1600 block of South 50th Terrace around 12:19 p.m. on reports of a shooting.
There, they found 23-year-old Loren Flores outside a residence dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
According to KCKPD detectives, Miguel Flores and Lauren Flores were married and in the process of getting a divorce when the fatal shooting occurred. Flores reportedly fled the scene of the shooting.
Flores is being held in the Wyandotte County Detention Center, according to the jail’s inmate listing.
