Five people injured in Midtown Kansas City shooting, police say
Five people were injured in a shooting in Kansas City’s Midtown Wednesday, and one was left with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Officers responded around 8:55 p.m. to Armour and Harrison boulevards on reports of the sound of gunshots. They found multiple victims lying on a sidewalk, said Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a Kansas City Police Department spokeswoman.
Four men and one woman were injured in gunfire, Gonzalez said. One of the men sustained life-threatening injuries.
The Kansas City Fire Department also responded to the scene. In a news release, the fire department said their paramedics transported four shooting victims to hospitals.
Three people who were shot remained in critical condition Wednesday night and one was recovering after treatment, said Battalion Chief Riley Nolan, a fire department spokesman.
Investigators at KCPD are working to determine what led up to the shooting.
