Man killed in shooting at northeast Kansas City apartment Wednesday night
A man is dead following a shooting Wednesday nightat a northeast Kansas City apartment.
Kansas City police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Bales Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on a medical call, according to a press release from Kansas City Police Department spokesperson Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
Paramedics were already at the scene when officers arrived, Gonzalez said, and advised officers that an unresponsive man was inside an apartment.
Further investigation revealed the man was suffering from gunshot trauma, Gonzalez said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No suspects have been identified, and it’s unclear what circumstances led to the shooting, Gonzalez said.
The shooting marks the 110th homicide in Kansas City in 2025, compared to 109 at this time last year, according to data tracked by The Star; which includes police-involved shootings.
