Man charged in Grandview shooting that killed one, injured another
A man has been charged with several felonies for his alleged involvement in a fatal shooting in Grandview last week.
K’Von Goetz faces second degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and first degree assault, according to Jazzlyn Johnson, director of communications with the Jackson County’s Prosecutor Office.
Police were dispatched to East 118th Terrace and Winchester Avenue just after 4 p.m. on July 10, where they found a woman being transported to the hospital for her injuries. Another victim, Keilan A. Dobbs, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary information indicated that several people had an altercation in the street in front of an apartment complex, according to previous reporting. The argument escalated into a physical confrontation, and someone pulled a gun, authorities said.
Detectives were able to connect Goetz to the shooting by using traffic cameras and witness reports, according to Johnson, and determined that Goetz was allegedly in an argument that led to the two individuals being shot.
Goetz is currently being held on a $150,000 bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 11.
