Police investigating shooting that left two men dead in south Kansas City
Two people were killed in a shooting in the Fairwood and Robandee neighborhood in south Kansas City on Friday evening, police said.
Officers were initially called shortly before 7:30 p.m. to the area of East 92nd Terrace and James A. Reed Road for an injury accident, and while they were on their way to the scene, the call was upgraded to a shooting with a victim, said Capt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department. Officers found a man in the area who had been shot, outside a vehicle, he said.
Officers were also notified of another vehicle that had crashed near the intersection of East 93rd Street and James A. Reed Road, and there they found a vehicle with another man who had been shot.
Both men were declared dead at the scene Friday evening, Becchina said.
Homicide detectives are investigating the shootings, he said.
“They are conducting area canvases and looking for any potential witnesses to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting,” he said. “Additionally crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence to hopefully give detectives a better idea of what led up to the shooting.”
