Gladstone police are investigating a shooting that left a 21-year-old man dead Friday.

Officers responded around 2:16 a.m. to 6002 NE Bircain Place on a call for the sound of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found a man inside an apartment suffering from gunshot wounds, said Capt. Bryan Boydston, a Gladstone police spokesman.

Paramedics transported the man to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have not yet publicly identified the victim, but said he was 21-years-old.

Two men were taken into custody for questioning in connection with the shooting, Boydston said in a news release. Everyone involved in the shooting is believed to be in custody, according to Major Karl Burris, Gladstone’s deputy police chief.

An investigation into what led to the shooting is ongoing.
