Man dies after he was found shot outside Kansas City, Kansas residence Wednesday evening

Update: The deceased has been identified as Michael Welch, 17, of Kansas City, Kansas.

One person died after a shooting Wednesday in Kansas City, Kansas.

Officers responded to a shooting Wednesday evening in the 4900 block of Steele Road, where they found a man who had been shot outside a residence, according to Nancy Chartrand, a spokesperson for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other adults were taken to a hospital with injuries not related to gunfire that were serious but not life threatening.

The killing was the 13th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas, this year, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings. There had been 12 homicides at this time last year.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the anonymous TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477. Tips are anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
