Two men die after being shot in Kansas City woods. Person of interest in custody
Two men died early Thursday following a shooting that police believe occurred in a wooded area of Kansas City.
Officers were called around 12:45 a.m. to the University of Kansas Medical Center, where two men with gunshot trauma were taken by private vehicle, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department.
Both men were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police believe the shooting occurred in a wooded area within Kansas City limits.
A man is in police custody for further investigation. Police aren’t searching for additional persons of interest.
The killings were the 21st and 22nd homicides in Kansas City this year, according to data tracked by The Star. There had been 24 killings at this time last year.
