A Johnson County jury found a 23-year-old Overland Park man guilty this week of rape, sexual assault and burglary after multiple break-ins of homes in Shawnee five years ago, according to the Johnson County District Attorney’s office.

The jury found William Louis Elliot guilty of one count of rape, two counts of aggravated sodomy by force, one count of aggravated sexual battery and three counts of aggravated burglary, court records show.

Elliot was accused of breaking into homes in September and October of 2018. Elliot, who was a teenager at the time, allegedly sexually assaulted three women.

The attacks happened within a few days of each other — two in apartments and one in a single-family house, police said. Two of the attacks occurred near 75th and Goddard streets and a third a few miles away near 55th and Caenen streets.

Shortly after the attacks, Shawnee police asked for help finding Elliot in connection with the break-ins. He was arrested a day later.

Elliot is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 11.
