A man died following a shooting Saturday afternoon in Kansas City, Kansas, according to police.

Officers responded around 5:11 p.m. to the 1500 block of North 5th Street, where they found a man and child who had been shot, said Officer Jovanna Cheatum, a spokesperson for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.

Both victims were transported to a hospital for treatment. The man died from his injuries, and the child is in stable condition.

The incident was the 15th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas, this year, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings.

The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department is investigating the incident. Police ask anyone with information to call the anonymous TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477. Tips may qualify for a cash reward.
