Person of interest in custody after shooting killed man in rural Cass County
A man died following a shooting Sunday night in rural Cass County.
Deputies arrived around 7:38 p.m. to the area of Lakeview Drive in Freeman on reports of a shooting, said Lt. Jess Claibourn, a spokeswoman for the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Edward Demoussett, 65, was laying in the roadway, while another person attempted life-saving measures, Claibourn said. Emergency medical crews declared Demoussett dead at the scene.
A person of interest was taken into custody and transported to the sheriff’s office for questioning.
