A pedestrian struck more than a week ago in a hit and run crash in Kansas City’s Northland has died, authorities said.

Police were called at 3:20 p.m. on March 23 to a crash at North Walrond Avenue and Maplewoods Parkway, according to the initial incident report from the Kansas City Police Department.

Members of the Kansas City Fire Department responded to the scene of the reported crash where they found a pedestrian suffering from injuries that were life-threatening.

The driver who struck the pedestrian fled the scene. Police said they still don’t know what the vehicle looked like or in what direction it fled.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on Friday, more than a week later.

The crash remains under investigation by Kansas City police, who are still looking for a suspect and suspect vehicle.

This marks the 16th fatal crash this year in Kansas City, according to KCPD data. There were 29 fatal crashes by this same time last year.
