Subject of interest detained after person dies Tuesday at Kansas City liquor store
A homicide investigation is underway after one person died overnight Tuesday in Kansas City, according to police.
Officers responded just after midnight to a Discount Smokes & Liquor store at 4305 Antioch Road to a call for an ambulance and found Dustin Niehouse, 29, suffering from apparent trauma, Officer Donna Drake, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department, said.
Police performed life-saving measures until emergency medical crews arrived, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene, Drake said.
Officers have detained a subject of interest.
This was the 153rd homicide in Kansas City this year, according to data tracked by The Star, which includes police shootings. At this time last year, there had been 137 killings.
