Kansas City police open homicide investigation after man found dead in Ashland Ridge home

Kansas City police have opened a homicide investigation after a man was found dead inside an Ashland Ridge neighborhood residence Wednesday night on the city’s far East Side.

Police officers were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. to the 4100 block of Pittman Road along with emergency medical personnel after a person called 911 to report someone had been injured and was not breathing, said Capt. Leslie Foreman, a police spokeswoman. The victim, an adult male, was pronounced dead after EMS arrived.

The man suffered apparent injures, Foreman said. But the nature of the injures was not immediately known to investigators.

Police had no suspect information to provide Wednesday night.

The killing is the 29th in Kansas City so far this year, according to data maintained by The Star. Last year, the city recorded a total of 157 homicides, the second-highest number in its history.

Police are asking anyone with information about Wednesday’s killing to contact homicide detectives at 816-234-5043 or the anonymous TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
