Body found floating in Northland pond Monday morning, police say

A body was found floating in a Kansas City pond Monday morning, police said.

Officers were called about 8:30 a.m. to a pond just east of the Community America Bank in the 6300 block of North Crosby Avenue, said Capt. David Jackson, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.

A passerby called police after they saw a body floating face down in the water, Jackson said.

The fire department also responded to the scene and retrieved the body.

The victim, a male, was declared dead at the scene.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, Jackson said.
