Kansas City police release video of suspect vehicle in killing of 4-year-old boy

Kansas City police have released surveillance footage that captured a suspect vehicle in the Monday morning fatal shooting of a 4-year-old boy.

Legend Taliferro was shot as he slept about 2:30 a.m. when gunfire pierced a unit at the Citadel Apartments in the 1600 block of Bushman Road. He later died.

Detectives believe the apartment was targeted. No arrests have been made.

Police do not know the make, model or color of the vehicle seen in the video, Deputy Chief Karl Oakman said Wednesday as city officials gathered near the apartment, urging anyone with information to step forward.

Someone in the city knows who drives that vehicle, Oakman said.

“Enough is enough,” he said. “We will get you.”

A department spokesperson acknowledged the video was “not the best.”

“But it is all we have at this time,” Officer Doaa El-Ashkar wrote in an email to reporters.

Police asked anyone with identifying information of the vehicle, such as its plate number or who it may belong to, to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477 or submit an anonymous tip online at crimestoppers.com.
