Woman killed in hit-and-run on Main Street early Sunday in Kansas City

Update: Police on Sunday released photos of a damaged car found several blocks from the crash scene. That story is posted here.

A 23-year-old Kansas City woman was struck and killed by a car Sunday in a hit-and-run near 43rd and Main streets, according to Kansas City police.

The crash was reported about 2:24 a.m. after the car hit the woman as she crossed Main Street from the west to the east, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

The car, which was traveling south, left the scene. The woman died at the scene.

The vehicle, described only as a dark-colored car, was seen in photos circulated by police.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday morning, police said they had located the car. No other details were immediately available.
