Photos show damaged car linked to hit-and-run that killed woman Sunday on Main Street
Update: Kansas City police on Monday morning said a suspect in the hit-and-run surrendered to police.
After a 23-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run early Sunday near 43rd and Main Streets in Kansas City, police are asking for the public’s help.
The crash was reported about 2:24 a.m. after the car hit the woman as she crossed Main Street from the west to the east, according to the Kansas City Police Department.
The car, which was traveling south, left the scene. The woman died.
On Sunday, police circulated photos of a black Ford Focus found abandoned several blocks from the crash scene.
The car showed damage to the front end and the windshield. A paper temporary tag appeared to have been torn from the car.
Police also circulated photos that showed the car and the victim at the time of the crash.
