Police find woman allegedly forced at gunpoint to drive from shooting at KCK motel

Police have found a 33-year-old woman they believed was forced at gunpoint to drive a person of interest from a shooting Wednesday evening at the Regency Inn in Kansas City, Kansas, a police spokesperson said.

Police found Candi Hunter, along with the vehicle, late Wednesday, said Kansas City, Kansas, police spokeswoman Nancy Chartrand.

The person of interest in the shooting, Matthew R. Walker “Love”, 38, remained at large Thursday morning. Walker should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. He was described as a black male, about 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing 260 pounds. He has black hair with a gray stripe.

The shooting occurred at about 6:20 p.m. at the motel in the 4700 block of State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas.

Arriving officers found a man in his early 40s critically injured in the parking lot. He was rushed to a hospital.

Investigators believed that Walker left the area in a 1993 teal or turquoise and silver Chevy Suburban with the Kansas tag of 690 KRE. The SUV has plastic covering the rear passenger side window. Police said they believed he forced Hunter at gunpoint to drive him from the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
