Two groups of people robbed at gunpoint Monday night in Olathe, police say
A group of five people in a vehicle carried out two armed robberies Monday night in Olathe, police said.
About 11:25 p.m. Monday, Olathe police were called to the 100 block of North Parker Street on an armed robbery, according to a news release from Olathe Police Capt. Rick Parsons.
Police were told four males and one female in a vehicle approached a group of seven people in a parking lot. The driver, who had a visible handgun, took something from one of the victims, then drove off in the crowded vehicle.
No one was injured.
Shortly after, about four miles away, the same group of suspects approached a group of five individuals in the 4000 block of South Montclaire Drive, Parsons said.
The driver again flashed a handgun before taking something from one of the victims. The suspects left in the same car again. No injuries were reported.
Police found the vehicle nearby about 11:30 p.m. and took the suspects into custody, Parsons said.
Olathe police are continuing to investigate the robberies. Anyone with information is asked to call Olathe police at (913) 971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-8477.
