Double shooting in rural Cass County leaves one dead, one seriously injured

One person is dead and one is in serious condition after a shooting Friday morning in rural Cass County.

Cass County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 12000 block of East 233rd Street in Peculiar, just east of State Highway C just after 8:45 a.m., Investigation Division Commander Lt. Craig McMein said in an email.

When they arrived, McMein said, deputies found one person injured by multiple gunshot wounds and another person who was deceased. The injured person was brought to an area hospital in serious condition.

McMein said deputies were not actively seeking a suspect in the case. The scene was cleared by Friday afternoon.

The investigation was ongoing.
