Shooting that injured 3-year-old boy at Kansas City home was an accident, police say
A 3-year-old boy injured Wednesday evening at a Kansas City home was accidentally shot by another child, police said Thursday.
Officers were called just before 6 p.m. Wednesday to the home in the 2300 block of Chelsea Avenue after receiving a report of a shooting, according to Officer Doaa El-Ashkar, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department.
At the home, officers found a boy suffering from a gunshot wound. Detectives later determined the shooting was accidental by another child under the age of 10 who was in the house with the victim, El-Ashkar said.
The investigation is ongoing and the child, a young boy, remains in stable condition Thursday afternoon, police said.
At the time of the incident, there were one or two juveniles and possibly one or two adults in the home, police said. No other injuries were reported.
