1,057 crimes were reported in Kansas City in one week. How many were in your area?
There were more than 1,050 crimes reported in Kansas City the week of April 19, an increase of more than 10 percent from the previous week, according to a Kansas City Star crime map created with city data.
Non-aggravated domestic violence assaults topped the list with 148 incidents reported between April 19 and 25, according to the data. That’s 14% of the 1,057 crimes reported for that week.
If you combine that with other domestic violence-related crimes — aggravated assaults, burglaries and others — 217 crimes, or more than 20 percent of all crimes reported that week were connected with domestic violence, according to the data.
The other top reported crimes included 97 stealing offenses, 65 property damage and 53 non-aggravated assaults. Police also responded to 50 calls for both stolen autos and thefts from autos, 47 non-residential burglaries and 43 aggravated assaults, according to the data.
There were 960 crimes reported the previous week starting April 12.
