Police release video showing scene near Kansas City shooting, ask for public’s help

The Kansas City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying individuals or vehicles who appeared in a home security video near a shooting.

A 19-year-old woman was injured in the shooting Sunday, said Sgt. Jacob Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.

Police heard gunshots shortly after 12:30 a.m. in the area of 111th and North Ditman Avenue.

Several people called 911 reporting that they heard gunshots and saw people fleeing.

Officers who arrived at the scene saw signs of someone being injured and the victim then showed up at a hospital, Becchina said.

The victim’s injuries weren’t considered life-threatening.

Police released a video Monday showing several people running down the residential block.

Becchina said the involvement of the people shown in the video “is not known, but they are believed to be at a minimum witnesses that could help the investigation.”

Anyone with information may call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
