5 people shot in Westport early Saturday; Kansas City police investigating

Update: Kansas City police provided an update later Saturday morning that stated there were five shooting victims. One man died and four others were injured. Police dispatch initially stated that four had been shot. The story has been updated.

Kansas City police say five people were shot in Westport early Saturday morning.

According to dispatch, the call for the shooting came in around 1:20 a.m. in the area of Westport Road and Mill Street.

One person died. Police initially said three others were injured. Later Saturday morning, police provided an update that stated four people had been injured.

The investigation was ongoing early Saturday inside the entertainment district.
