Body found in bag in Buchanan County was a 21-year-old Independence woman, police say
Arial Anne-Rae Starcher, a 21-year-old from Independence, is the woman whose body was found in a bag in rural Buchanan County Tuesday, police said in a news release Friday.
The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office identified the woman.
A homicide investigation into Starcher’s death is ongoing, the release said.
The bag was found by a Missouri Department of Transportation worker shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday in a ditch on Vincent Road between Southwest State Highway V and Route 371, near Faucett, about 50 miles north of Kansas City.
The worker called the sheriff’s office and deputies found the body, Sheriff Bill Puett said Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office initially said they believed the body belonged to a woman in her 40s or 50s.
