KC man charged, accused of using AR-15 in triple shooting that injured 10-year-old
A 28-year-old man is accused of using an AR-15 rifle and a revolver to shoot three people, including a child, in Kansas City, according to charges announced Friday by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Darcell J. Clark, of Kansas City, is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and one count of unlawful use of a firearm.
The charges stemmed from an incident outside his home about 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon, according to court records.
According to the adult victims, one person was in their car at 56th and Bellefontaine Avenue and another person was standing next to the car when Clark walked up, began yelling and shot at them.
When Clark ran out of ammunition, prosecutors allege, he walked back to his house and the victim who was in his car told police he shot back at Clark.
Clark then came back outside and began firing at them with the rifle from his front porch, witnesses told police.
The 10-year-old child was hit with a bullet in the living room of Clark’s home during the shooting, according to court records.
Clark allegedly told police that he, the child, and one of the witnesses were in his home when someone began firing into the house. He said that the child was struck and they drove her to the hospital.
In the home, police found an AR-15 with ammunition that matched shell casings found on the crime scene and a revolver.
Clark’s bond is set at $50,000. He pleaded guilty in 2010 to second-degree robbery.
The 10-year-old child was reported to be in stable condition Thursday. The other two victims suffered injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, police said at the time.
