Three people, including a child, injured in Kansas City shooting

Update: Kansas City police said in an email Friday afternoon that one person was in custody. The story has been updated.

Three people, including a child, were shot Thursday at East 56th and Wabash Avenue in Kansas City, according to police.

The girl was thought to be under the age of 10 and was in stable condition, said Capt. David Jackson, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.

The other two victims had injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening, Jackson said.

The incident was reported shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday.

In an update Friday afternoon, police said there was a dispute between two adults, and the child was struck by gunfire.

One person was taken into custody.

The investigation was ongoing Friday.
