Surveillance video leads to murder charges against two men for Kansas City shooting

Two people have been arrested in Kansas City’s first homicide this year, which left a 41-year-old man dead.

Anderson D. White, 25, and Darren D. Hamilton, 25, are charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.

On January 5, Kansas City police responded to a shooting in the 4900 block of Walrond.

Officers found Earl Finch III in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene.

Surveillance video from a neighboring house showed two males exit a car, approach Finch and fire several shots. Fifteen shell casings were found at the scene.

The pair ran back to the vehicle and drove off.

Video from about two blocks away showed the car and provided a clear shot of the two occupants, prosecutors said.

White was arrested January 7 and declined to give a statement to police.

Hamilton was arrested the next day and said he fired at Finch after White had shot Finch, charging documents said.
