KC police investigate homicide after Christmas Eve shooting in 7200 block of Wabash

A shooting on Christmas Eve left one man dead in the 7200 block of Wabash.

Kansas City police officers were dispatched to the scene about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. A man was located on the ground near a car and was declared dead at the scene, the Kansas City Police Department said.

The man was identified as Carter Mccollum, 23.

Detectives canvassed the area for witnesses, but the circumstances are still being investigated and there is no suspect information.

The shooting is the 149th homicide in Kansas City this year, according to data maintained by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings.
