Man shot and killed over shoes Sunday night in Grandview, police say

A man was found shot and killed on a sidewalk Sunday night in the 13200 block of Overhill Road in Grandview, according to police.

Police responded to a shooting call just after 9 p.m., according to the Grandview Police Department. Arriving officers found the 20-year-old victim on the sidewalk, dead from a gunshot wound.

Witnesses told police the shooting appeared to have stemmed from an altercation over a transaction for shoes between the victim and another person.

Police identified the victim as Jaylen T. Blackmon, of Kansas City.

No arrests have been made. Police said the investigation is active but they had no other information to provide Monday morning.
