19-year-old shot and killed following argument in Kansas City, Kansas, police say
A 19-year-old man was shot and killed following an argument in a Kansas City, Kansas, neighborhood Friday night, according to police.
Officers were called to the 200 block of South 11th Street just after 5 p.m. Friday for a shooting call, said Jonathon Westbrook, a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman.
The shooting, Westbrook said, occurred outside a home in the neighborhood following an argument between multiple people. He said it appeared to be an isolated incident.
Police did not know what the argument was about and had no suspect information as of Friday evening.
Westbrook said it was unknown whether the victim was shot by one person or multiple people.
“Our detectives are working that scene to collect as much information from the witnesses,” Westbrook said. “At this point, a lot of information is still forthcoming.”
Neighbors, who did not want to be identified due to fear of retaliation, said they heard multiple gunshots.
Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
This is the 34th homicide in Kansas City, Kansas, this year, according to data kept by The Star, which includes fatal police shootings. It was the third homicide in the Kansas City metro area in 24 hours.
