Woman shot and killed in Kansas City apartment complex Thursday, police say
A woman was shot and killed in the Riverview Gardens Apartments on Highland Avenue near Missouri Avenue in Kansas City Thursday evening.
Police were called to the 400 block of Highland Avenue for a shooting just after 8 p.m., said police spokeswoman Doaa El-Ashkar in a news release.
Officers found an adult woman dead at the scene when they arrived, El-Ashkar said.
Police identified the woman Friday morning as 32-year-old Candace Craig.
No suspect information is available and police are still investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
The shooting is the 143rd homicide in Kansas City this year according to data kept by the Star that includes fatal police shootings. There had been 134 homicides by this time last year.
