KCK police investigate shooting Sunday afternoon
A man was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in Kansas City, Kansas, according to police.
It was the third homicide in as many days in the city.
On Sunday police were called shortly before 2 p.m. to Parkwood Boulevard and Brown Avenue. They found a man who had been shot several times, said Officer Jonathon Westbrook, a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman. The victim died at the scene.
On Tuesday, police identified the man as Edgar Banks, 31, of Kansas City, Kansas.
Police had no suspect information and did not know the motive for the shooting, Westbrook said.
Family members of the victim were at the scene, as well as neighbors. Detectives were speaking with nearby residents and potential witnesses.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to gather enough evidence to figure out what the motive may have been, and figure out who our suspect is,” Westbrook said.
The shooting Sunday came one day after a man was found shot and killed Saturday night in the 1600 block of Holt Lane. Police on Sunday said they made an arrest in that case.
On Friday morning, a woman was found shot and killed at an apartment complex in the 600 block of 71st Terrace.
