Police seek dark-colored SUV in connection with Westport shooting death
Homicide detectives in Kansas City are trying locate a SUV seen at the scene of a deadly shooting that killed a 24-year-old man late Sunday in Westport.
Zach Pearce was killed during a robbery near East 40th and Walnut streets. Pearce and another man were walking home from Westport when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and a man demanded wallets and phones.
Pearce was shot after complying with the man’s demands, police said. He lived in an apartment in the 100 block of East 40th Street, close to where police found his body.
Police are looking for a blue 2003 Jeep Liberty with Colorado license plates OUF 660.
The SUV, police said, is missing the spare tire on the rear of the vehicle and has a large, black roof-top cargo box mounted to the top.
The driver’s back window is out and may be covered with plastic, police said.
