Olathe community shows support for mom reportedly stabbed at Two Trails Park
A Meal Train fundraiser has been organized for the family of a woman who was reportedly stabbed midday at an Olathe park this week.
The Olathe community has flocked to show their support by donating funds and volunteering to prepare and purchase meals for the woman’s family.
According to the Meal Train page, the woman stabbed that afternoon was Jamie Trumpp, a middle school music teacher in the Olathe Public Schools district.
Two days after the alleged stabbing, all scheduled dates to provide food on the Meal Train calendar were already booked. But there are still ways people can help, the fundraiser said.
“On Thursday, March 19, Jamie was the victim of a horrific and violent attack by a random stranger while she was spending time with her 3 young children and other family members at Two Trails Park,” the fundraiser page says.
“Jamie is a loving wife, mother and friend to many,” the fundraiser page says. “We are beyond grateful that Jamie survived this attack. “
Afternoon attack shocks Olathe community
Officers responded just after noon to the 1000 block of North Ridgeview Road on Thursday after reports of an armed disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found a 38-year-old woman with wounds consistent with a stabbing, according to Sgt. John Moncayo, an Olathe police spokesman.
Moncayo said in an email Friday that the woman is expected to survive her injuries.
Kwan Trezvant, 27, has since been charged with attempted first-degree murder in Johnson County District Court in connection with the incident.
The incident has left Olathe residents who live near Two Trails Park shocked and confused about how a violent act could happen so close to home.
On Saturday, Meal Train organizers provided an update to those following the page with more ways the community can help.
One organizer, Cassandra Sutherland, said people can sign up to help the Trumpp family with other things, like laundry and grocery shopping.
“I know that Jamie and Matt are overwhelmed by your love, support, and prayers,” Sutherland said.
