Interested in your next Johnson County property tax bill? Attend these meetings

Johnson County recently released its proposed 2027 budget, which suggests a flat mill levy rate of 24.130 mill, or $24.13 in property taxes for every $1,000 in assessed value, and a 5.15% increase in property tax revenue.

If you are interested in finding out more about the budget from county officials, or discussing the budget with fellow residents, Johnson County is hosting several events across the area that you can attend.

  • June 23, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. - Budget open house at Blue Valley Recreation Center at Hilltop, 7720 W 143rd St., Overland Park
  • June 24, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. - Budget open house at Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park
  • Aug. 25, 6 p.m. - Public hearing on the budget/Revenue Neutral Rate hearing at Olathe Conference Center at Embassy Suites, 10401 S Ridgeview Road, Olathe

Johnson County officials have added a new addition at the budget open houses this year.

At the beginning and end of the open house they will have 15-minute presentations about the budget. Then in between, they will give attendees the opportunity to participate in an interactive budget activity at 6:00 p.m.

County officials and leaders will also be around during the open house to answer any questions the community has.

The public hearing for the proposed budget will be held Aug. 25 and the vote will be held on Sept. 3. County officials also said that tax bills will come out mid-November.
