Mokas Coffee and Eatery is set to open its first Kansas City-area location in Olathe this summer or early fall.

The Salina, Kansas-based chain’s new location will open at 11814 S. Fellows St. in Olathe. The coffee shop was originally projected to open in March before getting pushed back.

Mokas currently has seven locations in Wichita, Salina, Colby and Arizona. The new Olathe location is the start of the company’s plans to expand into the Kansas City-area.

Christian Coleman, owner of Midwest Restaurant Group and Mokas’ first franchisee, said he plans to open six new locations across Johnson County, Douglas County and Shawnee County by 2032.

Owned by Salina-based food group JRI Hospitality, Mokas serves breakfast all day and uses specially roasted coffee beans made in house in Arizona.

Their food menu includes wraps, burritos, soups, salads and more. Their drinks include coffee, matcha, refreshers, fruit smoothies and energy drinks.

Some popular items include their chipotle breakfast sandwich and upside-down peach cobbler latte.
